In 1958 the controversial Flávio de Carvalho put together an expedition to the Amazon. His aim was to make a film bringing together both ethnographic research and fictional drama about a white girl who was kidnapped by Indians. Making use of the precious material filmed during the expedition, The White Goddess recovers this dark episode in the life of a brilliant artist.
