It has been long since Toshio and Akie's marital life follows a monotonous and predictable script. He devotes most of his time to work and has very little to talk about in the rare moments he spend with the family. The couple routine is shaken when Yasaka, Toshio`s old friend, comes looking for work and a place to live after spending 11 years in prison. While getting closer to Akie and teaching Hotaru, the daughter, how to play the organ, gradually, he will permanently implode the family's fragile domestic happiness. Un Certain Regard Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival 2016.
