Brazil, 2022. In a remote area near a charcoal factory, a rural family accepts the profitable but dangerous proposal to host a foreign guest. Carolina Markowicz is a screenwriter and director based in São Paulo, Brazil. She has written and directed six short films selected to 400 festivals such as Cannes, Locarno, Toronto, SXSW, and AFI and awarded more than 60 times. Carolina short The Orphan premiered in The Director’s Fortnight and was the winner of the Queer Palm in Cannes 2018. She was invited to be a member of the Academy of Oscars.
