In a factory about to be closed down, where only a handful of workers remain in activity, a young technician arrives to dismantle the last machine. While he does that, the workers wait for the weekend, talking and walking around. But beware, that is not all that they are doing! Because in this factory, some amusing, unexpected things are known to happen. Featured at Cannes’ Director’s Fortnight, it was considered by Jean-Luc Godard the best film of the festival that years. Best film at the Clermont-Ferrand short film festival and nominated for a César as best short film.

Alain Guiraudie

Born in 1964, in France. He made his first short, Les héros sont immortels, in 1990. In 2001, his medium-length Du soleil pour les gueux was shown at Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight. In 2003, he made his first feature, No Rest for the Brave. He went on to direct Time Has Come (2005), best screenplay at Turin, and The King of Scape (2009), which brought him back to the Fortnight. Festival do Rio presents this year a retrospective of his work.
