Centaur is a simples man, the loving father of a quiet little boy and the husband of Maripa, a deaf young woman. Together, they live a simple life in a small village in Kyrgyzstan. Centaur is a man above suspicion, but despite the respect he inspires, he holds a deep belief in his heart: the people of his country will become invincible through the worship of their horses and that he has been punished by the heavens for mercenary practices involving the animals. To save his homeland, he will start to steal racehorses at night. Berlin, 2017.
Aktan Arym Kubat
Nasceu no Quirguistão, em 1957. Formou-se pela Academia de Arte de Bishkek e trabalhou como diretor de arte antes de estrear na direção. Seu primeiro longa, The Adopted Son (1998), recebeu o Leopardo de Prata, além de uma menção especial do júri e do Prêmio Don Quixote no Festival de Locarno. Dirigiu ainda The Chimp (Cannes 2001), Mother's Paradise (Karlovy Vary 2011) e The Light Thief (Toronto, Cannes e Locarno 2010).
