Gabriel Abrantes has portuguese citizenship and Daniel Schmidt is American. Both were born in the United States in 1984. Their films, some already in partnership, were screened worldwide, including at the Venice, Rotterdam, Berlin and Locarno festivals, having won a Golden Leopard. Diamantino, winner of the Cannes Critics' Week, is Daniel Schmidt’s second feature and Gabriel Abrantes’s first.
