The Marquise of O is a widow whose father commands a square of the war in Lombardy. When the square falls to the Russians, the soldiers are preparing to rape the marquise. However a Russian lieutenant-colonel, Count F., saves her and takes her to a wing of the castle which has not yet been burned. There the count reveals his real intentions with the marquise. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes.

Eric Rohmer (1920- 2010) é um célebre diretor francês que desempenhou um importante papel na Nouvelle Vague. Considerado um mestre na articulação de arte e filosofia, foi um dos fundadores e editor dos Cahiers du Cinema. Possui uma vasta filmografia com mais de 80 títulos como diretor. Suas principais produções foram O joelho de Claire (1970), O raio verde (1986) e A minha noite com ela (1969).
