​January 1, 2003. As Brazil celebrates the historic inauguration of President Lula, two middle-class
families from the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul are gathered in an old, poorly maintained house for a champagne-filled barbecue amidst family secrets and frustrations. Sunday could be a day like any other, sweet and peaceful. But the changes promised to the Brazilian people by the new president deeply worry Laura, the matriarch, who fears she will see her authority and wealth disappear.​

Clara Linhart, Fellipe Barbosa

​Fellipe Barbosa is a director and screenwriter. His first feature, The Ballad of Poor Jean (2014), was a hit at festivals around the world. Gabriel and the Mountain (2017) was awarded at the Cannes Film Festival. Clara Linhart is a director and producer. She worked as an assistant director in numerous national productions and, in 2017, she released her first documentary, La Manuela, best film at Florianópolis Audiovisual Mercosur.​
