​Malcolm is a high school student who survives in The Bottoms, one of the most dangerous neighbourhoods in Inglewood, California. He and his friends are obsessed with everything related to 90s hip-hop, risking humiliation at school with their colorful attire. Malcolm dreams of studying at Harvard, but for now his only concern is getting home safe every day. Things take a hilarious and surreal turn when he is invited to a local drug dealer’s birthday party. Sundance Film Festival and Director’s Fortnight 2015.​

Rick Famuyiwa

​He was born in the USA in 1973. He graduated in arts and film at the University of Southern California. His first feature film was The Wood (1999). He also directed Brown Sugar (2002) and Our Family Wedding (2010). In 2007 he wrote the screenplay for Kasi Lemmons’ Talk to Me, for which he won the NAACP Image Award for best screenplay. He is currently working on Confirmation, a film for television to be shown on HBO.​
