“What seemed to be a trip back to my home country during a time of change turned out to be a journey in self-discovering, amidst the contradictions and the questioning around my Cuban identity. This is a catharsis-film. Living away from Cuba did not seem tragic until I began to understand that the country would change and I wouldn’t be there to witness it. I knew we needed to open up to the world and renew ourselves, but I feared that this renewal would also make disappear the best of a system full of contradictions and utopias.”
