A tale of piracy in Somalia, using animation, documentary and dramatization. We are told the story of how Mohamed, a Somalian, became a pirate, up to the point when he decides whether to continue attacking ships or to begin a new life with his fiancée. Animation sequences show how the ships are invaded and describe Mohamed’s childhood in the midst of war and drought. Mohamed has a hard decision to make: the familiar, difficult and extremely poor life of his parents, or the luxurious but illegal life of piracy. Sundance and Panorama section Berlin 2014.
Tommy Pallotta, Femke Wolting
Pallotta nasceu em 1968 nos EUA. Estudou na Universidade do Texas, onde conheceu o diretor Richard Linklater, de quem produziu os longas Waking Life (2001) e O homem duplo (2006). Produziu e dirigiu High Road (1996) e o documentário American Prince (2009). Wolting nasceu em 1970 na Holanda. Produziu os documentários Rembrandt’s J’accuse...! (2008) e Meet the Fokkens (2011). Fundou a produtora Submarine Channel.
