Gloria is an elevator operator at Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ). She was raised and still lives in Morro da Providência. Daughter of an abusive father, she becomes free from him, only to fall in the hands of her brother, a drug kingpin, who is still present and exerts enormous influence on her life, even though he is in prison. Camila is a young Portuguese psychoanalyst who is in Brazil for her graduate studies on violence at UERJ, where Gloria becomes her patient. She is foreign and displaced amidst the chaos of an unequal, noisy, hostile and ever-changing city. A bond between them begins to form.
