Steve Butler works for a company that specializes in gas extraction and his future looks promising. However, in order to further his career, Steven needs to carry out a practically impossible mission: convincing the entire population of a small US city that the harmful and aggressive method of extraction adopted by the company he represents is not that bad. The film marks a new reunion between director Gus Van Sant (Elephant and Paranoid Park) and Matt Damon after the award-winning Good Will Hunting and Gerry. Official Competition ate the Berlin Film Festival 2013.
Gus Van Sant
Born in the USA, in 1952. His directorial debut was Mala Noche (1986). Among his films are Drugstore Cowboy (1989), My Own Private Idaho (1991), Good Will Hunting, Oscar winner for Screenplay and Supporting Actor, and Milk (2008), which won Oscars for Actor and Original Screenplay. For Elephant (2003), he was awarded the Palme d’Or at Cannes. In 2012, he directed, Restless, which was shown at Un Certain Regard at Cannes.
