​Good Kenyan girls become good Kenyan wives, but Kena and Ziki long for something more. Despite the political rivalry between their families, the girls resist and remain close friends, supporting each other to pursue their dreams in a conservative society. When love blossoms between them, the two girls will be forced to choose between happiness and safety. Censured in its homeland, the first Kenya film screened at Cannes was nominated to the Un Certain Regard Prize .​

Wanuri Kahiu

​Born in 1980 in Kenya. She is part of a new generation of African storytellers. Her films are internationally acclaimed and have been screened at a number of film festivals around the world. Her short film Pumzi (2009) was awarded at the Venice Festival. She has written and directed seven films so far. From a Whisper (2009) was her first feature film.​
