Rabul and Shalin are divorced. Since their separation, their daughter Kali, aged 10, has been living with her mother and stepfather Shoumik, chief of Mumbai’s police troops. During a Saturday outing with her father, Kali is kidnapped, and the girl’s disappearance triggers a game of guilt transference between the family members. The film combines elements of the psychological thriller and drama, and was directed by Indian Anurag Kashyap, of Gangs of Wasseypur, one of 2012’s Cannes highlights. Selected for the Directors’ Fortnight, Cannes 2013.

Anurag Kashyap

Born in 1972, in India. His feature-length film Black Friday (2004) was selected to compete at Locarno. He directed films such as No Smoking (2007) and That Girl in Yellow Boots (2011). In 2012, he released the epic Gangs of Wasseypur, which clocks in at 320 minutes. The film was selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival and was a highlight in festivals all around the world.
