Victoria has just been released from prison. She is 61 and wishes to start a new life. Her home now is her old invalid uncle’s place, a hut in the middle of the Canadian wilderness. Vic hopes to live there with Florence, her younger lover and ex-cellmate, with whom she shared years of intimacy in prison. Under the watchful gaze of Guillaume, a young parole officer, Vic wants only to do the right thing and remain in peace. But the past comes back to haunt Flo. Signs of imminent threat begin to appear and the forest seems to hold treacherous traps. Competition, Berlin Film Festival 2013.

Denis Côté

Born in New Brunswick, Canada, in 1973. His first feature film, Drifting States (2005), was awarded the Golden Leopard in the Video Category at the Locarno Film Festival. With All That She Wants (2009) and Curling (2011), he received the Silver Leopard for best director at the same festival. The documentary Carcasses (2009) was selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes. And Bestiaire (2012) was shown at the Forum Section in Berlin.
