”Waldheim, no!”, shouts the crowd in Vienna in 1986. Ruth Beckermann was one of the activists who tried to prevent Kurt Waldheim from being elected and documented all related political events with her camera. More than 30 years later, she revisits the footage and uses other archive materials to reconstruct this decisive moment in Austria's political history. The result is the exposure of a web in which the former UN Secretary-General became embedded in after trying to hide two years of his shameful wartime history. A film about truths and lies, about individual and collective consciousness. Berlin 2018.
