Stefan, is a Romanian immigrant working in construction in Brussels. He is going back to his country for holidays but does not know if he will return. He cooks up a big pot of soup as a goodbye gift for friends and family. In a Chinese restaurant he meets a young woman studying mosses for her Phd. The attention she devotes to an almost invisible world stops him in his tracks. FIPRESCI Prize at Encounters in the Berlinale 2023.
Bas Devos
Bas Devos was born in Zoersel, Belgium in 1983. His debut feature film, Violet (2014), won the Grand Prix of the Generation 14plus Jury at the Berlinale. His second feature, Hellhole (2019) premiered in Berlinale Panorama. Ghost Tropic (2019), his third film, premiered three months later in Directors' Fortnight at Cannes. Devos teaches film at the Luca School of Arts in Brussels.
