After the sudden death of her husband, Nawal has to fight for her part in the inheritance in order to protect the present and future of her daughter and the right to the residence in which they live. According to the laws of Jordan, the family of the deceased must take all their possessions, including the house that Nawal paid for, simply because she doesn't have a son. Desperate, the widow fakes a pregnancy. Inspired by the experience of a relative of the director, the film was selected for the Cannes Critics' Week 2023.

Amjad Al Rasheed is a Jordanian director and screenwriter born in 1985. In 2016 he was selected by Screen International as one of five Arab Stars of Tomorrow. Director of the short films Bitter Days (2010), Hit the Road (2011) and The Parrot (2016), he makes his feature film debut with Inshallah a Boy.
