The work of NGOs such as Doctors Without Borders and the International Committee of the Red Cross in war zones in Somalia, Afghanistan and the Congo are delicate operations which demand bravery of their volunteers. Although politically neutral, these organizations are often mistaken for military forces and are deliberately targeted in conflicts.
