Marieme is oppressed by the atmosphere in her family, the lack of perspective at her school and the domination of the boys in her neighbourhood. She find an outlet when she meets Lady, Fily and Adiatou, three free spirited girls who she feels an immediate affinity with. To be accepted by the group she changes her name, her way of dressing and she leaves school in the hope that this will be her way to freedom. From the same director as Tomboy, the film casts non actors in the roles. Cannes Festival 2014.
Céline Sciamma
Nasceu em 1978 em Paris. É mestre em literatura francesa e estudou roteiro na La Fémis, em Paris. Seu primeiro trabalho como diretora, Naissance des pieuvres, foi exibido na mostra Um Certo Olhar do Festival de Cannes, e recebeu o prêmio Louis Delluc, na França. Tomboy, seu segundo filme, lhe garantiu o prêmio FIPRESCI no BAFICIFI e o Teddy no Festival de Berlim 2011. Este é seu terceiro longa-metragem.
