Couple Clara and Hans are former terrorists. They have lived undercovered for years with their teenage daughter Jeanne. Somewhere in Portugal, they manage to establish semiofficial identities. But a careless moment makes everything fall apart and they must run away again. That is when they end up getting in Germany. There, the daughter meets Heinrich again. He is surfer for whom she had fallen in love back in Portugal. Meanwhile, her parents are seized by the police after robbing a bank. A combination of political film and coming-of-age story. Christian Petzold
Born in Hilden, Germany, in 1960. He studied literature before enrolling in the Berlin Academy for Film and Television. His first feature was 2000’s The State I Am In. With Jerichow (2008), he took part in the Venice Festival. He has been selected three times for the Berlin Film Festival, with Gespenter (2005); Yella (2007), for which Nina Hoss won the best actress award; and Barbara (2012), a Silver Bear winner for best director.
