Young-nam, a head of police, is transferred to a remote seaside village after an incident in her old district. Upon arriving she meets Do-hee, a teenage girl who is humiliated by everyone and beaten by her stepfather, Young-ha. Young-nam decides to protect her and takes her to live in her house. As time goes by the two become closer but when Young-nam’s ex girlfriend arrives and her past is revealed, Young-ha uses the opportunity to turn the town against her and Do-hee. Screened at Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival 2014.

Nasceu na Coreia do Sul. Formou-se em cinema, TV e multimídia pela Universidade Sungkyunkwan e completou seus estudos na Korea National University of the Arts, onde dirigiu seu primeiro curta-metragem, A Man Under the Influenza (2007), premiado no Festival de Busan. Dirigiu ainda os curtas 11 (2008) e The Dog that Came Into My Flashlight (2010). Este filme marca sua estreia na direção de um longa-metragem.
