An older gay couple in a city in northern Italy talk about their decades-long relationship. A man describes how he was physically abused by his father because of his sexual identity. Another, who had a high-flying career, recounts a sexually fulfilled life and mentions numerous homosexual politicians. Gay men from across the social classes and regions of the country have their say and discuss the different conditions which determined gay life in Italy. Gianni Amelio
Nasceu em 1945 na Itália. Começou a produzir documentários e longas nos anos 1970 e ficou famoso internacionalmente em 1990 por As portas da justiça, indicado ao Oscar de melhor filme estrangeiro. Em 1992 recebeu o Grande Prêmio do Júri em Veneza por O ladrão de crianças e, em 1994, o prêmio de melhor diretor no mesmo festival por América – O sonho de chegar. Venceu o Leão de Ouro em Veneza por Assim é que se ria (1998).
