In carnival of 1999, before the collapse of the banking system in Ecuador, Juan Pablo, a teenager from the Ecuadorian elite travels to his family’s farm in the Andes. His uncle retreated there with his wife and children after a corruption scandal. There he meets Juano, an indigenous motorcyclist from the nearby town, who likes heavy metal and earns his living repairing tyres. Juano opens his eyes to a new and freeing universe. Whilst his family heads straight for irreparable ruin, Juan Pablo heads towards his first love. Berlin Festival 2014.
Diego Araujo
Nasceu em Quito, no Equador. Formou-se em cinema pela Florida State University e especializou-se em roteiro pela Universidade de Bergen, na Noruega. Após um período trabalhando como editor em Nova York, retornou para o Equador em 2012, onde dirigiu diversos curtas, comerciais e séries de documentários, além de fundar, com Hanne-Lovise Skartveita, a produtora Lunafilms. Este é seu longa-metragem de estreia.
