Sveta only talks to her boyfriend on Skype, hates her work in a factory medical clinic and dreams of escaping her frustrating reality, like Nadya, a sex worker. Aliocha works as a magician at parties but aspires to be the most well paid artist in the city. Seryozha, Yana and Ruslana work in a factory but they’ve placed all their hopes in the band they play in. Amongst the ruins of the soviet empire these young characters wander the industrial city of Norilsk searching for a more promising future. Screened in competition at the Rotterdam Festival 2014.
Natalia Meschaninova
Nasceu em 1982 em Krasnodar, na Rússia, e se formou pela Kuban State University of Culture and Arts, onde se especializou em cinema e TV. Trabalhou na emissora Krasnodar e, em 2006, dirigiu seu primeiro documentário em curta metragem, My World, seguido de Herbarium (2007), Hunting for the Gates (2008) e Good Intentions (2008), além da série para TV School (2010). Este é seu longa-metragem de estreia e também sua primeira obra de ficção.
