​In one of the many fast-growing provinces in East China, immigrants from all around the country come in search of the dream of a better life. However, reality is quite different. The city offers few employment opportunities, poor working and housing conditions, and drives couples into violent and abusive relationships. Xiao Min, Ling Ling, and Lao Yeh are some of the characters of this bitter chronicle about contemporary China. By documentary master Wang Bing.
