Liliana Cavani
Born in Carpi, Italy. In 1962 she started directing documentaries. In 1966, she directed her first feature film, Francis of Assisi. It was screened at Venice and received an award at Valladolid, bringing her notoriety. She achieved worldwide recognition with the provocative The Night Porter (1974). She was awarded The Golden Lion for Career Achievement at the 80th Venice Film Festival.
