On the eve of a volleyball championship which is decisive for her future as an athlete, 17-year-old Sofia finds she has an unwanted pregnancy. As she tries to terminate it clandestinely, she becomes the target of a fundamentalist group intent on deterring her at all costs, but neither Sofia, nor those who love her, are prepared to surrender to the herd's blind fervor. Exhibited at La Semaine de la Critique and winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
Lillah Halla
Director and scriptwriter from São Paulo, graduate of EICTV/Cuba. Her prize-winning short film Menarca (2020) premiered at La Semaine de la Critique of Cannes and was acquired by Canal+ and MUBI. Power Alley, her first feature, also premiered at La Semaine de la Critique, where it won the FIPRESCI Prize for Best Film — in parallel section. Flehmen, her next project, took part in development labs Full Circle Lab and JSFL Jerusalém Lab.
