Mateo lives in a small rural community in the south of Mexico with his mother and youngest brother. The father moved to Los Angeles in the hope of earning more money for the family but it’s been some time since they have heard from him. After turning 16 Mateo also plans to immigrate but before that, he needs to join a gang to ensure his protection once he’s there. Damian John Harper
Nasceu em 1978 em Boulder, Colorado. Depois de receber seu diploma em antropologia com Magna Cum Laude, trabalhou como etnólogo com os zapotecas em Oaxaca, México, e também como instrutor de mergulho em caverna subaquática no Brasil. Em 2012, graduou-se pela Universidade de TV e Cinema de Munique e dirigiu o curta Teardrop. Este é seu primeiro longa-metragem.
