The new comedy by Michel Gondry (Be Kind Rewind) has an autobiographical element to it. Microbe got his nickname because of his size, whilst Gasoline got his because of his love for everything mechanical. Young and maladjusted, the two soon become friends. Keen to escape their problems at home, they decide to build a house on wheels and go to a camp where Microbe went as a child and which left an indelible mark in his memory. On the way, the pair also pay a quick visit to an old love of Microbe’s. With Audrey Tautou.
Michel Gondry
Born in Versailles, France, in 1963. He directed some of the most iconic music videos of his generation for musicians such as Björk, Beck and Daft Punk. His first feature was Human Nature (2001). He won the Oscar for best original screenplay for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2003). He wrote and directed The Science of Sleep (2005). He also directed Be Kind Rewind (2007), The We and the I (2012) and Mood Indigo (2013).
