Amarildo was murdered by the military police inside the headquarters of the Rocinha Police Pacification Unit in July 2013. The courage of his family and friends became a symbol of resistance and the fight of civil society against state violence. The case was the catalyst not only for mobilizing other communities, but mainly to expose the weaknesses of a project of militarized public security.
Rodrigo Mac Niven
Nasceu em 1976 no Rio de Janeiro. Jornalista e cineasta, ainda na faculdade trabalhou como cinegrafista subaquático, diretor de fotografia e editor de programas de TV. Em 2005, criou a TVa2 Produções, na qual escreveu e dirigiu, entre outros, os documentários Ei, you! O Haiti antes do terremoto (2010), Cortina de fumaça (2010) e Armados (2012). Atualmente se dedica a roteiros de ficção e lidera o núcleo de criação de séries da TVa2.
