In Petite maman eight-year-old Nelly has just lost her beloved grandmother and is helping her parents clean her mother's childhood home. She explores the house and the surrounding woodlands where her mother Marion used to play and built a tree-house about which she has heard lots of stories. One day, Marion suddenly disappears and walking through the woods Nelly meets a girl of her own age building a tree-house. To her surprise the child is called Marion.
