In the near future, the City’s laws forbid people from being single. Any man or woman not in a relationship is arrested and sent to the Hotel, where they will have 45 days to find a partner. If they do not find anyone, they are transformed into an animal of their choice and released into the jungle. In this context, the Man falls in love with the Forest – something which is forbidden by the system. Starring Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz, this is the first Hollywood film by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, who made Dogtooth. Grand Jury Prize in Cannes 2015.
Yorgos Lanthimos
Born in Athens, Greece. He directed several dance videos in collaboration with Greek choreographers, as well as advertisements for TV, music videos, shorts and plays. Kinetta (2005), his first feature, was shown at the Berlin and Toronto Film Festivals. His second feature, Dogtooth, won the award at Cannes’ Un Certain Regard in 2009. The film was also nominated for the Oscar for best foreign film.
