In his new film, Sion Sono (Why Don't You Play in Hell?) guides us through the territories of Yakuza, the Japanese mafia, and a hip hip gang. In an even more futuristic Tokyo, the landscape consists of slums, ghettos and nightclubs, and streets are dominated by young rebels. To populate this kind-of-magical Yakuza kingdom, the director cast real life rappers, tattoo artists and stuntmen for the lead roles, a bold move that brings vivacity and coolness to this weird musical epic. Sion Sono
Nasceu em 1961 no Japão. Iniciou sua carreira como poeta aos 17 anos. Durante sua passagem pela Universade de Hosei, realizou filmes em 8 mm. Seu primeiro longa, realizado em 16 mm, é Bicycle Sighs (1990), um sucesso de bilheteria no Japão. Com Suicide Club (2001), se tornou conhecido no Ocidente, onde seus filmes ganharam o status de cult. Dirigiu ainda títulos como Culpada por romance (2011) e Por que você não vai brincar no inferno? (2013).
