While her mother is at an inpatient rehab clinic and her father travels for work, Maik, 14-years-old, spends her summer vacation at home, bored. That is until the day she meets Tschick, a Russian teenager, marginalized and rebellious. Tschick has a plan to steal a car to escape from Berlin and Maik decides to go with him. Fatih Akin
Nasceu na Alemanha, em 1973, em uma família de imigrantes turcos. Ganhou fama internacional com Contra a parede, vencedor do Urso de Ouro no Festival de Berlim 2004. Dirigiu ainda Atravessando a ponte - O som de Istambul (2005), Do outro lado (2007), melhor roteiro e prêmio do júri ecumênico em Cannes, e Soul Kitchen (2009), prêmio especial do júri em Veneza, entre outros. Em 2017, dirigiu In the Fade, que também integra a programação do Festival do Rio.
