Andrew is a promising 19-year-old drummer at a Manhattan music conservatory. Determined not to follow in his father’s footsteps, a failed writer, he practices every day until his hands are bleeding. The pressure of success only increases when he is chosen to participate in the school band, lead by the infamous Terence Fletcher, a brutal teacher who will stop at nothing to realize a student’s potential. Under Fletcher’s direction, Andrew starts to pursue perfection at any cost. Winner of the Sundance Film Festival 2014.
Damien Chazelle
Nasceu em 1985 em Rhode Island, nos EUA. Dirigiu seu primeiro filme, Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench (2009), enquanto ainda era estudante na Universidade de Harvard. O longa foi eleito um dos melhores filmes de 2009 pelo New York Times, Film Comment, entre outras publicações. É roteirista de Toque de mestre (2013). Whiplash, seu curta de 2012, que deu origem ao longa, ganhou o prêmio do júri em sua categoria no Sundance Film Festival 2013.
