Closing night selections for 25th Festival do Rio
First up was the international film, Sofia Coppola’s highly acclaimed “Priscilla” that recently won the best actress prize at the Venice Film Festival for Cailee Spaeny’s performance in the title role as the wife of Elvis Presley.
It is through Priscilla’s eyes, that Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla’s long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this deeply felt and ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy, and fame.
The Brazilian film was the world premiere of Marcus Baldini’s “O Sequestro do Voo 375”, one of the most highly anticipated Brazilian films of the year that will open in Brazil on 7 December and is based on the true story of an attempt in 1988 to hijack a plane and fly it into the Presidential Palace.
