Her name was Gal… Gal Costa
One of the most highly anticipated new Brazilian films at the festival is the biopic “Meu Nome é Gal” (My Name is Gal) which is based on the early career of the great Gal Costa as she moves from Bahia to Rio to start her career.
Sadly we lost Gal in 2022, just as she was about to set out on another international tour, but her music will forever live on.
“Meu Nome é Gal,” directed by Dandara Ferreira and Lô Politi, had its world premiere Saturday at 19.30 at Cine Odeon but there are other further festival screenings at 21.00 on Monday, 9 October at Reserva Cultural Niteroi and at 19.00 on Tuesday, 10 October at Kinoplex São Luiz 4..
